Definition of Styles

In Cecil Ryu Taekwondo (made by Cecil Washington) we study ITF Taekwondo combined with Judo, a little Boxing, Kyusho Jitsu (Pressure Points) and a little WTF Taekwondo (kicks only, no WTF Poomse (i.e., Forms)).

Boxing and Wrestling have been around for thousands of years.

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that combines Taekyon (Korean kicking ar) and Japanese Shotokan Karate. Taekwondo means "Way of the hand and foot". ITF Taekwondo (International Taekwondo Federation style) was created by General Choi Hong Hi on April 11, 1955. WTF Taekwondo (Word Taekwondo Federation) is the style of Taekwondo that is known for kicking and is used in the Olympics.

Judo is a Japanese martial art. It means "Gentle Way". Judo was created by Doctor Kano Jigaro in 1882.

Yudo is the Korean form of Judo. It is more geared to self defense in some cases, and is nearly identical to Judo in others.
